It’s been a huge year of change for Sprintlaw. After a period of consolidation in 2023, we entered 2024 with fresh energy and a clear plan: to evolve Sprintlaw’s model through a huge investment in technology, with the goal of making legals easier than ever for startups and SMBs and supercharging our growth.
Looking back, we’re super proud of what we achieved.
From the launch of our new AI-powered platform to record-breaking milestones in client numbers, market expansion, and awards recognition, it’s definitely been the best year we’ve had since founding in 2024 (…of course, we hope to say that every year!)
Here’s a review at the year at Sprintlaw and what’s on the horizon for us in 2025.
The Plan in January 2024
In 2023, we’d focused on refining our operations, improving efficiencies, and preparing for long-term, sustainable growth. With a tighter and leaner team, we began to focus on the big picture strategy for Sprintlaw in late 2023 and over the new year break, we conducted a detailed review of the business and uncovered several key challenges that we needed to address as we set out plan for 2024.
The first was around client engagement: numbers showed that our service model was too reactive in nature – many clients had used us only for one or two services and had major, unaddressed legal risks they weren’t even aware of. There was a clear need for us to adopt a more engaging, proactive approach to helping clients manage their legal needs.
The second was that our sign-up process was too complicated. It had too many steps, relied on a separate platform for issuing quotes and accessing member benefits, and we had no free tier on our site to enable people to try out Sprintlaw.
The third was that we frequently faced operational bottlenecks during busy periods. These bottlenecks impacted our ability to deliver fast and seamless legal services, especially as we grew rapidly and were unable to hire lawyers quickly enough to service demand.
Finally, we knew we wanted to continue to grow quickly but find a way to do so avoided repeating the challenges we faced in 2022 and 2023, where rapid growth stretched our resources and teams too thin.
We brought these together as the strategic goals for Sprintlaw in 2024, which we presented on the below slide in our January 2024 kickoff company presentation.
A Technology Transformation
To really achieve these goals, we knew we needed more than piecemeal improvements to our existing processes – particularly because the release of ChatGPT in late 2022 and Goldman Sachs’ 2023 report predicting that 44% of legal jobs could be automated offered a major opportunity to revolutionise how we deliver legal services at scale.
We saw that by harnessing the power of LLMs, we could automate routine tasks, enhance client engagement, and streamline our operations in ways traditional methods couldn’t match. This wasn’t just about keeping up with industry trends – it was about positioning Sprintlaw as a leader in the new era of legal innovation.
With this in mind, in late 2023 we quietly raised $2M in capital and began work on a major project we internally named Sprintlaw 2.0, designed to transform the end-to-end client experience and address each of our four strategies.
Building our AI-Powered Legal Platform
The process of building the new platform was long and unexpectedly complex. We began quickly, and already had the original designs of key screens completed by January 2024. We’d optimistically hoped we’d have the build done and launched by March 2024.
But the old adage that when you’re building a software there’s the “first 90%” and the “last 90%” couldn’t have been more true – and unforeseen complexities meant the launch date had to be delayed again and again.
There were many reasons for the delays, but the most significant was the continuous flow of valuable client feedback on our prototypes, which often sent us back to the drawing board. We road-tested early versions with clients and received incredible insights about the features they wanted, the areas they found most confusing, and their biggest pain points.
One particularly impactful piece of feedback came from a customer who highlighted a key issue: when it came to legal matters, he felt he “didn’t know what [he] didn’t know.”
This concept of building the platform around ‘proactive’ legal management was excactly where we felt could help significantly improve client engagement. We knew our currently clients were typically finding us with a specific legal problem that we were great at solving. But while we had their captive attention, we were too focussed on the problem at hand and weren’t taking the time to broaden the conversation at look at their business holistically. It’s like taking your car to the mechanic for an oil change, only to drive away without being told your brakes are about to fail. By focusing solely on the immediate problem, broader risks were often left unaddressed.
This insight drove the creation of our Legal Health feature—a custom algorithm designed to give SMBs a quick, clear overview of their legal needs. We integrated it seamlessly into our workflow so that every client completes it with their first project, providing a stronger foundation for their long-term success.
The second reason for the delay was the rapid advancement of AI voice technology throughout 2024. With the emergence of more humanlike voice APIs and their increasing integration with large language models, we saw the opportunity to explore their potential inside our new platform.
In May 2024, we developed and launched an early prototype of our voice-enabled legal AI tool, which we named Taylor AI (or rather, it named itself!). The results with Taylor far exceeded our expectations—enabled by a library of over 10,000 legal resources, Taylor delivered responses to complex legal questions at a level comparable to that of a senior lawyer.
Inspired by this breakthrough, we decided that Taylor needed to be a key feature of the first version of our new platform. However, the initial version faced glitches, inaccuracies, and off putting delays between questions and answers – and it took months to refine it to a smooth enough user experience that was ready to launch.

Finally, you had the sheer complexity involved in launching a platform causing further delays. From configuring notifications, reminders, and settings controls to managing intricate user and organisation relationships, every detail required careful precision and debugging. Adding to the challenge was the need to cut over a live system with 2,000+ existing members while ensuring seamless integration with our website, sales operations, and legal team workflows—not to mention conducting rigorous cybersecurity testing and much more.
But after nearly a year’s hard work, finally in November 2024 we launched Sprintlaw 2.0 – marking a new era for Sprintlaw. The final version of the new platform introduced:
- Legal Health Monitoring: A personalised dashboard that helps SMEs track their legal health, flagging risks they may not be aware of.
- Free Documents: Access to 50+ lawyer-vetted templates that can be generated instantly.
- Document Monitoring: Automated updates when legal documents need to be reviewed or updated.
- Sprintlaw AI Chat: A chat-enabled companion to Taylor AI, designed for document reviews and quick legal advice.
- Integrated eSignatures: Eliminating the need for third-party subscriptions by allowing members to send up to 25 documents for signature per month.

A Year of Growth & Improvements
While we worked toward the platform’s end-of-year launch, we also focused on refining every aspect of our operations to prepare for a seamless cutover and create a leaner, more efficient business. By making strategic adjustments to pricing, streamlining processes, and enhancing the client experience with faster response times, we achieved significant improvements in conversion rates.
We also invested heavily in our legal team, introducing additional training, implementing robust quality control measures, and optimising workflows to boost efficiency. A standout initiative was the launch of major upgrades to our internal knowledge system, including an internal version of Taylor AI. This tool empowered our lawyers with faster access to internal resources and guidance on complex legal questions, revolutionising how they worked.
The result?
A record-breaking year of revenue and client growth. Sprintlaw now serves over 8,000 clients globally, with more than 13,500 engagements completed for businesses in Australia, the UK, and New Zealand.
